SUFFIELD, Conn. -- The Providence Grays (3-5) encountered a challenging outing in Westbrook, Maine, against the Dirigo BBC in a ‘64 doubleheader last Saturday, May 11, falling short in both contests. Despite the setbacks, the Grays remain hopeful and are ready to bounce back with renewed energy and determination as they look forward to their next match-up today with the Westfield Wheelmen at Hilltop Farm in Suffield, Connecticut. First pitch is 11 A.M.

In the first game last weekend, Dirigo's offensive onslaught led to a 27-11 defeat. Defensive missteps added to the Grays' woes, but Dirigo's relentless hitting was the primary force behind the loss. Nevertheless, the Grays fought valiantly, showing their resilience and spirit throughout the game.

The second game saw a more competitive effort from the Grays, as they managed to put up 18 runs. Unfortunately, Dirigo's bats continued to stay hot, and they outpaced Providence with a 27-18 victory. The Grays' lineup exhibited flashes of brilliance, but Dirigo's consistency and power at the plate rendered Providence's efforts to right the ship futile on that particular day.

Not much good has ever come from dwelling on past losses. The Rhode Islanders are eagerly looking forward to today’s event with optimism and determination. Providence will take the field again today, Saturday, May 18, at Hilltop Farm in Suffield, Connecticut. This 1886/1864 doubleheader will be a rematch of the thrilling season opener against the formidable Wheelmen of Westfield.
