WETHERSFIELD COVE, Conn. -- The Providence Grays' midseason surge continued in a packed month of August, as the Rhode Islanders rattled off three wins at both the Doc Adams and Rocky Point festivals to move to 19-16-1 on the season.

Providence earned three wins and a draw at the storied Doc Adams Festival on the grounds of Old Bethpage Village Restoration on August 3 and 4. The Grays downed the Hoboken Nine (27-4), Rising Sun BBC of Maryland (11-7) and New York Mutuals (11-3), before finishing level with the Brooklyn Eckfords (16-16) due to festival time limits.

After traveling to some of the top festivals in the country throughout the summer, Providence played host on August 17 and 18 for the Rocky Point Historic Base Ball Festival. The event in Warwick Neck is becoming a pillar of the vintage season, and the Grays kept their fine form on home turf.

Providence defeated the Brandywine BBC of West Chester, Pennsylvania (21-10) and Philadelphia Athletics (19-8) on day one at Goddard Park, before an all-New York day two against the Mutuals and Brooklyn Atlantics. It was a pair of one-run finishes against the familiar foes, falling to the Mutuals (19-18) before coming back to defeat the Atlantics (14-13) back at Rocky Point.

The Grays, who were 8-13 after 21 games, are now 11-3-1 in their last 15 which has propelled them to a 19-16-1 mark entering the final 12 outings of the campaign. Next up are the fourth and fifth games of the season against the Connecticut Base Ball Club on Saturday, August 24, at Wethersfield Cove, Conn.

The New England sides will play an 1870/64 doubleheader with Connecticut holding a 2-1 lead in the season series. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. and we advise spectators planning to attend to park at the DMV at 60 State Street, Wethersfield, Conn.
