Grays Return to Rocky Point This Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a chilly, but successful, start to the season on April 10, the Providence Grays return to the open fields of Rocky Point State Park in Warwick to continue the hunt for wins in 2022. Join the squad this Sunday, April 24, for an 1860s doubleheader with the Boston Union BBC, as the Grays look to extend their early season record to four wins. First pitch is 11 o’clock.

Two weeks ago, Providence inaugurated the 25th season of the historic base ball club, squaring off with the Thames BBC of Connecticut. The Grays put up 55 runs to their opponent’s 26 across two games, for a sweep of the opening day. Providence will focus on another sweep against their New England rival Union club from Boston, with their sights set on a 4 and 0 start for the ’22 campaign. The last time the Grays swept their first two outings was in the historic 2019 season, when the Rhode Islanders finished with a 33-11 record. Sunday’s match promises to be a rowdy one, as the ballists from the Commonwealth always come with their best game against their Ocean State rivals.

Bring some chairs, a blanket, a basket of grub, and the kids for a day of family fun by the bay.
